Harris Corporation, Communications Systems segment is seeking a Tactical Networks Product Line Manager (PLM) with experience managing enterprise software and hardware products and licensing for the tactical battlefield. The Networked Systems group provides end-to-end C4I military communications offerings for the Lower Tactical Internet (LTI). These C4I offerings include the radio hardware, radio software, waveforms, mission applications, ISR integrations, networking design and optimization including systems integrations. Harris’ communication ecosystem designs improve operational performance; simplify planning and deployment; offer advanced field-proven capabilities; and reduces overall system costs. Our technical expertise covers all aspect of the system lifecycle, from design, hardware and software development, testing, production, field service engineering, training, maintenance, and customer support services. The tactical software applications included Harris' C4I offerings are: Battle Management Systems, Command and Control (C2), Situational Awareness, Network Management with Planning, Spectrum Analysis and Monitoring, CPA - Communications Planning Applications, ISR systems integration with C2, and Tactical mission applications such as Tac Chat IP, SoftKDU, Video Distribution and Analysis engines (C2View, Jagwire), and Push-to-Talk amongst others. The tactical backbone for the Harris' C4I offerings is the RF-7800W radio. This position is responsible for developing use cases, setting market requirements and researching new technologies to empower the C4I communication systems and networked soldier with the information needed for mission success. The individual recommends, designs, verifies and tests solutions bringing commercial C2 and ISR technologies optimized for over the air wireless links to the tactical battlefield, to mobile commands and to integrated soldier systems (ISS).
The candidate will be responsible for:
Market sizing and development of businesses cases for recommended offerings
Definition of market requirements and conversion into specific product description documents for the execution teams
Recommending IRAD strategy and investments to engineer tactical networks for the connected battlefield
Managing the product line projects through checkpoint reviews, engineering reconciliation and launch dates for on time delivery.
Improving Harris software and 7800W products driving customer value; driving a culture of continuous improvement.
Achieving target customer pipeline, pricing strategy, catalog part numbers, target revenue and cost targets based on the approved product business cases.
Managing 3rd party vendors, contracts and partner relationships
Working closely with Marketing for marketing messaging, collateral, thought leadership and trade shows.
Authoring white papers to describe capabilities and technologies included in the networked systems offerings.
Developing sales tools and training to grow customer pipeline and sales. Support trade shows, customer demonstrations and sales presentations.
Evaluating make versus buy alternatives to develop systems offerings; aligned with Harris' core competencies
Understanding the end-to-end battlefield tactical networking systems and concept of operations required for mission success to determine new offerings for the Tactical Networks portfolio.
Leading trade studies and competitive analysis required to down select products and solutions for Networked Systems Offering Portfolio.
Contributing to the growth of our system offerings by recommending, demonstrating, and collaborating with teams across the division to bring other Harris segments and commercial technologies to the tactical battlefield.
Defining and develop tactical C2 and ISR workflows to advantage Harris Defense Systems Offerings. Highlight how to provide the right information, to the right person per military doctrines.
Assisting in the definition and development of information dissemination technologies for real-time updates to the tactical battlefield. Identify information attributes that are the most critical to mission success and operations.
Identifying and define predictive analytic engines to inform the battlefield.
Providing and building expertise by educating Harris personnel and customer base on the Harris end-to-end solution offerings, including the use of specific C2 and ISR modules.
Working closely with bids, and proposals.
Working across Sales, Program Management, Marketing and Engineering to deliver Networked Systems offerings from concept to production and sustainment.
Providing domain expertise in tactical solutions including all steps of the tactical system value chain such as the design, plan, implementation, configuration, and test, from inception to customer handoff. Demonstrate customer requirements are met.
4+ years of experience in military enterprise software solutions
Bachelor's degree (Preferably in Software Engineering, Network Engineering, Computer Science, Communications or related field) and minimum 4 years of prior relevant experience; Graduate Degree and a minimum of 2 years prior related experience
Travel: 25% or more, including international travel
Preferred Additional Skills:
US Government Secret Security Clearance, preferred
Enjoys working with people, developing relationships and sharing knowledge
Ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced, high-stakes environment
Experience with sales, front-end of the business, Face-to-Face customer interactions
Experience in software application product commercialization processes from concept to end-or-Life and sustainment
Military service/background preferred
Familiarity with RF tactical communication networks - radios, waveforms and applications, wireless networking.
Familiar with data analytics market trends and applications
