Job Description:

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work on fun products to ensure that first responders and military personal are able to communicate successfully when they are serving and protecting our country.

This position will require a candidate who is flexible and required to work both product safety, systems safety and component engineering.

The product safety/ component engineer will be responsible for leading the improvement, maintenance and implementation of the product safety and systems safety programs for the Communication Systems (CS) business. They will partner with the EHS, quality, manufacturing, test, design, contracts and specialty engineering teams. They will function as the CS point-of-contact with customers for all program specific product safety or system safety issues. Proactively supports new contract proposal teams to interpret system and product safety requirements and provide estimate of man-hours, travel, etc. for inclusion in proposal/bid documentation. They also will be responsible for researching, updating and the maintenance of components used throughout the CS business.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree EE and minimum 6 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience

  • Knowledge of Product Safety Regulations: Underwriters Lab (UL), Intertek, TUV, etc.

  • Experience with complex electro-mechanical systems

  • Working knowledge of Electrical and Electrical Mechanical components

  • A passion, curiosity and comfort of the latest regulations and technology in our industry

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite: Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Experience with doing failure modes, effects analysis and hazard analysis preparation

  • Practical failure reporting and corrective action system experience

  • Project Management experience or certification

  • Understanding of the latest version of MIL-STD-882 (currently 882E) practices

  • Proficiency in Agile and Excel databases

  • Metrics collection and analysis

  • Strong and positive interpersonal skills

  • Self-starter, results oriented, strong problem-solving with ability to build strong cross-functional team cooperation

  • Work experience in Defense or Aerospace related industries a plus
