Job Description:

  • Work scope includes providing guidance and support in the selection and procurement of electrical components for use in space hardware as well as IR&D and associated development programs.

  • Interpretation of electrical parts requirements and more specifically how they are flowed to suppliers. This will require an ability to interface with designers, suppliers, and customers to ensure requirements compliance. Verification of requirements will include review of deliverable data items from suppliers and coordination of post receipt activities such as Destructive Physical Analysis (DPA) and Prohibited Materials Inspection (PMI).

  • Serve as a program technical contact during problem resolution on multiple part types such as hybrids, microcircuits, semiconductors, resistors and capacitors and other electrical devices using risk mitigation methods, root cause analysis and other problem solving techniques. Travel to suppliers in support of problem resolution and critical inspections may be needed.

  • Other responsibilities will include the evaluation and introduction of new technologies into programs through part research to compare their Technology Readiness Level (TRL) to the program’s requirements and develop a closure plan to enable their use.

  • Lead/support process improvement initiatives of technical and operational nature, develop fluid knowledge of the PDM and procurement systems, and become knowledgeable of Space Parts, Materials And Processes requirements for the application and long term mission life including environmental stresses caused by shock, random vibration, and thermal cycles.


  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent with minimum of 2 years industry experience required, OR equivalent.

Preferred Additional Skills :

  • Lean / Six Sigma Certification - Green Belt or higher and effective use of the Harris PDM system. Training and experience in the use of Root Cause and Corrective Analysis (RCCA) is highly desired.

  • Background in the design for manufacturing of electronic assemblies for high reliability military and government systems, is preferred.

  • Background in Mil Specs for different commodities of piece parts including microcircuits, hybrids, semiconductors, and passive parts, is preferred.

  • Experience in developing manufacturing processes related to the test and integration of electronic parts is desired.

  • Knowledge of MIL/ IPC workmanship and performance standards related to electrical CCA assemblies and Boxes is desired.

  • Good communication skills including the ability to deliver effective presentations to peers, management and customers.

  • Ability to find root cause of mfg process problems, workmanship defects, and test failures is preferred.
