Our corporate direct materials and subcontracts team is focused on leveraging company scale, enabling strategic tools, and developing supplier relationships that achieve the best possible quality, cost, delivery and technologies for our customers. Within this high visibility group, our corporate category managers lead their strategic commodity teams in developing enterprise sourcing strategies, by working closely with the Harris business segments and utilizing Harris Business Excellence (HBX) principles. Responsibilities include:
Provide strategic leadership for the selection, development, and management of preferred suppliers, and meet all cost and performance goals for $200M in annual Electronics spend.
Develop subject matter expertise of the market, industry trends, product knowledge, emerging technologies, supplier capacity / capabilities / diversity through the development and execution of RFI’s, market analysis, benchmarking, supplier capability matrices and site assessments.
Assess and monitor supplier risk across all responsible Electronics sub-categories.
Establish a strong network and foster collaboration among customers, suppliers, key internal stakeholders and category team members.
Develop category strategies / playbooks. Implement innovative solutions and approaches that address present and future supply chain requirements, and execute that vision and multi-year sourcing strategy through key strategic projects / initiatives.
Engage new programs early to deliver flawless new product introduction (NPI) with preferred suppliers that achieve targeted BOM cost and all other program objectives and milestones.
Achieve supply base rationalization goals that optimize the supply base across the organization.
Lead negotiation of enterprise contracts with preferred suppliers to maximize benefits across Harris and its affiliates. Incorporate internal customer requirements including inventory reduction programs, VMI, and lead time improvements.
Meet or exceed cost improvement goals while ensuring quality, delivery and working capital objectives are met. Develop and execute cost savings projects through negotiations, should cost models, value engineering, benchmarking, eAuctions and other cost reduction methods.
Ensure suppliers are fully-engaged with efforts to drive performance improvements across all KPI’s through year-over-year improvement objectives, monitoring and managing supplier performance, continuous improvement action plans, and executive business reviews.
This position can be located in Melbourne, Florida or Rochester, New York.
Travel approximately 20-25%
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Business or Finance.
A minimum of 9years of relevant work experience including 3+ years of strategic sourcing / commodity management in a manufacturing and/or product design environment.
Experience with multiple direct materials commodities, with strong focus on Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) that have yielded measurable business results.
Preferred Additional Skills :
MBA or graduate degree in related field.
Excellent negotiation skills.
Strong background in building strategic relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
Understanding of contractual terms and conditions and approaches to mitigating risk.
Exceptional communication skills (written and verbal) to all levels of the organization.
Strong analytical skills with ability to interpret and synthesize complex data sets.
Highly self-motivated with ability to drive positive change by team building and gaining support from people and resources across the enterprise.
Experience planning and executing eSourcing / eAuction events.
Six Sigma or lean certification and demonstrated success implementing greenbelt or blackbelt projects.
Proficient in MS suite Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Project.
CPSM, APICS or other supply chain management certification.
