Job Description:


Business development and sales lead in India for all defence related business and to make sales of all applicable Harris products and services primarily from Communications Systems business segment and also to include Electronic Systems Division as required. The primary role of the job is expected to be account management for military tactical radio communications products and systems. Additionally, to grow and develop the number of customers, channel partners, and the portfolio of products and services supplied. To maintain and expand upon existing customer and user relationships throughout the customer community, including with other defense prime contractors.


Full responsibility for deriving revenue from sales across all potential business lines, especially military tactical radios. There is significant scope to broaden the customer base to include wider, pan-government users of defense electronics equipment: in particular military radios/communications; and also including night vision devices, electronic warfare and maritime equipment


  1. Maintenance and growth of sales. Identify, qualify and pursue opportunities within India

  2. Establish pursuit strategies and lead sales/capture activities

  3. Maintain and develop customer relationships within user, defense and other government procurement bodies

  4. Maintain and develop appropriate relationships with defense industry in general and key prime contractors in particular

  5. Maintain and develop International Representative Relationships where appropriate, and be the custodian of those relationships

  6. Identification of new market and product sales opportunities

  7. Provide assignments, supervision and guidance to US based sales support staff, Product Management and Program Management functions as appropriate

  8. Initiate and coordinate demonstrations, trials and trade shows

  9. Be a key member of any contract negotiating team as required

  10. Establish and maintain an up to date sales opportunity forecast

  11. Review and report upon a monthly basis

  12. Comply with all applicable US and other regulatory requirements; facilitate TAA applications, signatures and securing DSP-83’s when required

  13. Represent Harris in an honest and professional manner at all times.

  14. Conduct business in accordance with the Harris values and business ethics.

  15. Conduct business in accordance with all security and export controls of both India and the USA

  16. Ensure that all working practices comply with Health and Safety legislation


  1. Retired military Signals Officer (Lt. Colonel/Colonel). 20+ years relevant experience with BS/BA (Bachelors) degree in Engineering or related field; or 15+ years relevant experience with MS/MBA (Masters) degree

  2. In depth technical knowledge of military communications products and systems, ideally served with elite / Special Force units

  3. Ability to partner with India Ministry of Defence / Indian Army Corps of Signals/ Channel Partners to meet customer needs and help drive continued business

  4. Strong customer empathy (humble, supportive, customer focused)

  5. Results oriented mindset with excellent communication and sound business judgement skills

  6. 5+ years Sales / Business Development experience with proven track record in Multinational or Indian Defense / Security Industry

Preferred Additional Skills:

  1. Knowledge of military radio communications/signals, preferably within a military or tactical environment

  2. Firsthand knowledge of India Ministry of Defense / Government Security Market.

  3. Ability to build long term business relationships

  4. Ability to represent the values and understand the goals of the India Ministry of Defense / Indian Army Corps of Signals and make decisions which align with these entities.

  5. Sound working knowledge C4ISR technologies

  6. Experience (5-7yrs+) within a defense/professional sales role

  7. Results oriented mindset with excellent communication and sound business judgement skills
