Quality Engineer needed to define, develop, modify, apply and implement quality evaluation, controls systems and protocols for remote sensing space applications. Able to work to improve processes through statistical and data analysis and support Quality Inspectors/Technicians to ensure that products and processes comply with the relevant requirements of the quality management system. The applicant shall be able to effectively communicate program status and compliance to both internal and external customers. Interface with customer quality representatives for communicating root cause, corrective actions and requirement compliance to flow downs. Lead/participate on Material Review Board and Failure Review Board meetings and Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis reviews; provide drawing reviews, test procedure reviews and customer interface to these activities. Insure design modifications or updates meet all quality requirements while sitting as a member on the Configuration Control Board.
Bachelor degree in Engineering (or equivalent engineering work experience) with 6+ years of Quality experience or Master degree in Engineering with 4+ years of prior related experience.
Experience leading program’s quality engineering team with direct responsibilities in the following:
Cost account management
Chairing material, failure, and anomaly review boards (MRB, FRB, ARB)
Demonstration of strong communication skills reporting to senior leaders within the organization and customer
Mission Assurance flow-down requirements review, implementation, verification and lessons learned management internally and externally
Experience leading and participating in ISO9001 and AS9001 audits.
Working knowledge of the NASA-STD-8739.1, 2, 3 4, and/or J-STD-001 (with Space Addendum) or have current certifications.
Familiar with Configuration Control Management.
Working knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerances (GD&T).
Experience and knowledge in APQP.
Small team leadership experience.
Experience working with Reliability, Survivability, Components Engineering on space system hardware development.
Strong data analytics experience trending quality performance history and project management skills to lead process improvement.
Lean / Six-Sigma Green/Black Belt.
Familiarization with metal finishes including MIL-DTL-5541, AMS 2404, and MIL-G-45204.
Experience with performing Failure Analysis (FA) and Construction Analysis (CA) utilizing the necessary electrical tests and measurements, plus many of the advanced analytical techniques of physics, metallurgy, and chemistry.
Experience with EEE internal visual inspection per MIL-STD-750 and 883.
Familiar with INST-EEE-002.
Familiar with or experience with assembly of complex mechanisms and assemblies.
