About your next Challenge as a CF-18 Aircraft Life Support Technician:

As an ACS technician and instructor for POM to Level A development, you will support 4 Wing with technician development, Liquid Oxygen (LOX) replenishment, maintenance, system repairs and inspections. additionally, you will support first line units as agreed upon by the CO 1 AMS and the L3Harris Site Lead.

What You Will Do:

  • Employed in the Liquid Oxygen Facility, be able to carry out shop related tasks and provide technical expertise and guidance for DND personnel and junior technicians under training As a Subject Matter Expert, provide consistency and continuity for facility personnel to ensure production.

  • Provide support for periodic inspections, conditional inspections, supplementary inspections, modifications or special inspections in accordance with the Canadian Forces Technical Orders (CFTO) and established work instructions/processes;

  • Attend training / information sessions as required;

  • Keep Lead Hand / Supervisor informed on technical problems, scheduling problems, additional requirements and technician welfare;

  • Follow Tool Control rules and regulations;

  • Consult reference documentation such as CFTO’s, work processes and other related documentation;

  • Complete aircraft inspection sheets, forms, aircraft sets, registers and other documentation properly and as required;

  • Utilize safe working practices;

  • Carry out additional tasks as assigned by the Lead Hand / Supervisor;

  • Conform to the administrative and technical regulations of the establishment to which they are assigned, with regard to the following:

    • Health and Safety;
  • Flight Safety;

  • Documentation and records;

  • Work Instructions;

  • Processes specifications.

    Required Skills and Experiences:

    The ACS Technician shall have qualifications in the following areas:

  • LOX Replenishment; including converter inspections and preventive maintenance, LOX trailer inspections and maintenance, and the maintenance/inspections of storage tanks;

  • LOX related equipment including LOX converters, SKU-10A Emergency Oxygen System, O2 regulators, and analyzing/sampling equipment;

  • General oxygen handling and safety procedures;

  • Special Inspections (NS) and Field Modifications (CF) and CD (contractor modifications) that can be accomplished and certified within their scope of qualifications;

  • Cryogenic bulk storage and handling and hold cryogenic safety compliance training;

  • An understanding of Aircraft Life Support Equipment and aircraft oxygen systems; and

  • Operation of powered and electrically operated support equipment.
